Valentines For Veterans

To the Editor:

On behalf of The Newtown Woman’s Club, I would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all who responded to our appeal for the “Valentines for Veterans” program.

The response was overwhelming, not only from private citizens but organized groups as well. The cards expressed appreciation for our veterans’ service to our country and their commitment and sacrifice to preserving our freedoms. The Congregational Church and students from the Head O’ Meadow School were among the groups contributing cards. Girl Scout Troop 166 contributed specially wrapped candy “Kisses for the Vets.”

Valentine’s Day was brightened for the many men and women cared for at Connecticut’s Veteran Hospitals and Homes.
