Anthony G. Papp

Anthony G. Papp, 88, a recent resident of Newtown, and a past resident of Trumbull for more than 46 years, died on February 17, at Ashlar of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, he had served in Europe during World War II in the US Army Air Corp. He was also a former member and participant in the Senior Olympics, where he won many medals in Track and Field events.

Predeceased by his son, Claude A. Papp, and a brother, Victor Papp, he is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marie (Aneme) Papp; a daughter, Jo-Ann Maude, and her husband, Roger, of Newtown; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Papp of Westborough, Mass.; as well as three cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Elizabeth Papp and Mackenzie Maude, all of Newtown.

A funeral mass was held on February 21 in the St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Burial followed in St Rose Cemetery.
