Michael Remington Patterson will be presenting a demonstration using watercolors during the next meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown.
The program, which is open to the public free of charge, will be on Wednesday, March 8, beginning at 7:30 pm. SCAN meetings are held at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole).
Mr Patterson has spent much of his life living and painting in New Yorkâs Hudson Valley, but recently bought a farmhouse on the scenic Shepaug River in Roxbury. Water plays an integral part in Mr Pattersonâs life and is the subject of many of his works, from beach paintings and river scenes to rainy city streets.
Like his grandfather, Howard Ashman Patterson, who was an accomplished American painter, Michael Patterson has a traveling spirit. The younger artist has visited and painted in such places as Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and around much of the United States.
He is represented by Randall Tuttle Fine Arts in Woodbury, and also The Framing Gallery in Hawthorne, N.Y., where he recently had a one man show.
