Youth Wrestlers Excel In State Championships

The Newtown Youth Wrestling Association’s (NYWA) youngest wrestlers participated in the Mighty Mite and Bantam divisions of the State of Connecticut’s Youth Championships held at Bristol Eastern High School this past Sunday, February 19.

Highlighting the day’s results was the crowning of three NYWA wrestlers as state champions and the team sending seven wrestlers to the winner’s podium.

Leading the charge for the team and finishing first in the state were Bantam Division champions Michael Carpenter, William Henckel, and Luca Manfredi. Joining them at the trophy table were  teammates Zach Robinson (fourth place) and Fisher Stites (also fourth place).

In the younger Mighty Mite Division, Jarok Dauber took a hard-fought second place, going 2-1 with two pins, while Danny Accomando finished fourth.
