Enrico “Rick” Addessi, 82, of Danbury, husband of Donna (Gigliotti) Addessi, died peacefully February 18, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danbury, December 18, 1929, to Gilda (Peppe) and Alesandro Addessi, who had immigrated to America from Fondi, Italy, in the early 1900s.

In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, he is survived by his three children, including Wayne Alexander Addessi, and his wife Bernadette (Gillen), of Newtown. His six adoring grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his loving brother Lewis Addessi, and many other dear friends and relatives survive Mr Addessi.

Mr Addessi was a partner and treasurer of Addessi Jewelers in Ridgefield, a successfully run family business of more than 60 years. He earned the status of Vintage Registered Jeweler, a title of merit from the American Gem Society, and was the recipient of the Diamond Certificate of the Gemological Institute of America. He embraced every aspect of the business from shoveling the sidewalk to selling fine jewelry. He loved to work with customers, and earned their trust and respect with great pride.

The Addessis valued the importance of preserving historical buildings, and donated the David Scott House, circa 1713, to the Ridgefield Historical Society. They were also honored with the Downtown Ridgefield Beautification Award for renovating their properties in the historic Village of Ridgefield.

His interest in real estate prompted him to obtain his Connecticut real estate broker license as well. His passion for business was diverse, as he was one of the founders and incorporators, and secretary of the Board of Directors, of the Village Bank and Trust (which was acquired by Webster Bank.) Mr Addessi belonged to several clubs, and the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce.

He and his wife enjoyed dancing. He took great pleasure in the outdoors, enjoyed gardening, and was a die-hard Yankees fan. His children will remember him for his unconditional love and for sharing with them many lifelong lessons.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt love and gratitude to Marcia and Siccron Pesantez who cared for Mr Addessi during his illness with love and devotion, and to the staff of the Danbury Hospital 9E floor, Western Connecticut Home Care, and Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut for their care and kindness.

In honor of Mr Addessi’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for 10 am, Friday, February 24, at St Joseph Parish, 8 Robinson Avenue, Danbury. Burial will be held in St Peter Cemetery. Green Funeral Home, Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions in Mr Addessi’s memory may be made to St Joseph Parish, 8 Robinson Avenue, Danbury CT 06810, or Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut, 405 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810, www.regionalhospicect.org, or Western Connecticut Home Care (VNA) 4 Liberty Street, Danbury CT 06810.
