19th Annual NYS Talent Show â Itâs time to dust off those dancing shoes and practice your singing (and so many other talents) for Newtown Youth Services 19th Annual Talent Show. Auditions will take place on Thursday, March 23, from 3 to 6 pm and Saturday, March 25, from 9 to 11 am, in the Alexandria Room of Edmond Town Hall. Call NYS at 270-4335 to schedule an audition time.
The talent show will take place on Friday, May 12, at Newtown Middle School.
Parent Programs
âItâs The Internet: Do You Know Where Your Children Are?â â The Parent Connection, along with the Newtown School District and Microsoft, will sponsor this timely program. The program will be held on Tuesday, March 14, at 7 pm, in the Reed Intermediate School cafetorium.
New Program: Grandparents Group: âThe Second Time Around: Raising Your Childrenâs Childrenâ is a new support group forming for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. This is an on going group that will begin on Tuesday, March 21, from 11:30 to 1 pm, at NYS. There is no fee for this group. For further information call Roseanne.
Groups for Moms
Moms and Infants Support Group meets on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
Gym Time meets on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am in the Edmond Town Hall gym. This class is for walkers through preschool age children.
Moms of Multiples meets at Newtown United Methodist Church on the last Friday of the month from 10 to 11 am. There is no fee. To register call Laurie Petrasanta at NYS.
Hope And Support
This group meets on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. If you are a parent or guardian with questions or concerns about your childâs possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are welcome to attend this group.
Youth Programs
HSYAB will meet on Monday, February 27, at 2 pm, in the high school cafeteria.
NYCAAP meets on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm at the high school.
SMAD will meet on Wednesday, March 1, in the middle school cafeteria.
Sibshops will not meet in February. The next meetings are March 6 and April 3, from 5 to 7 pm.
Children of Divorce meets the first and third Monday of the month from 6 to 7 pm. The next meeting will be on February 27.
Super Sitters: The next session of this popular course will be held each Wednesday in March from 3:15 to 4:45 at NYS. The $40 fee includes all materials and a snack. This class fills quickly.
