Joseph J.        Wupperfeld

Former Chief Of    Hook & Ladder

Joseph J. Wupperfeld, 77, of South Windham, husband of Ellen (Craig) Banholzer Wupperfeld, died February 17 at Windham Hospital. He was born April 15, 1928, in Norwalk.

Mr Wupperfeld was a 50-year member, former assistant chief and chief of the Newtown Hook and Ladder Company. He was US Army Korean War veteran and was retired from Superior Plating in Fairfield. He was a past president of Ye Connecticut Gun Guild, past president of Stratford Gun Collectors, former member of Company of Military Historians, and member of the Canadian Medal Society.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Barbara Nunes and her husband, Russell, of Shelton, John Banholzer and his wife, Wendy, of Bellows Falls, Vt., Craig Banholzer and his wife, Mary, of Springfield, Vt., and Beth Wade and her husband, Ronald, of Stratford; a brother Sonny Bartram; nine grandchildren; four aunts; and several cousins.

A funeral mass was celebrated on February 21 at St Joseph Church, Willimantic. Interment was private in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton.
