Hawleyville DUI

While traveling westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 12:30 am February 18, police observed an eastbound vehicle that was traveling faster than the speed limit, so police turned around to follow it.

Police said they saw the vehicle cross over the road’s center line and then make a left turn onto Hawleyville Road, where they stopped it to investigate.

Police said motorist Carl Edgett, 25, of Naugatuck failed field sobriety tests, after which they charged him with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

After arrest processing, Edgett posted $50 bail and was released for a March 3 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

Honda Key

On February 19, a car key for a Honda automobile, which was attached to a Courtney Honda key chain, was found in the parking lot near the TJ Maxx store at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street, police report.

Police are holding the key for safekeeping and ask the owner to contact them to claim the key. Sergeant Darlene Froehlich is in charge of found items, telephone 426-5841.

Saab Vs Toyota

About 4 pm February 20, motorist Laura Kreps, 47, of Ridgefield, who was driving 2004 Saab 9-3 sedan, stopped behind a stopped 2004 Toyota Highlander driven by Amy Nicholson, 40, of 56 Parmalee Hill Road, police said. Both vehicles were waiting at a red traffic signal on Main Street in front of the police station.

When the traffic signal turned green, the Saab hit the rear end of the Toyota, police said.

Ambulance volunteers transported Nicholson to Danbury Hospital on a report of neck pain, police said. Police issued Kreps a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Jeep Off Road

About 11:30 am February 20, motorist Sarah Egan, 24, of Danbury was driving a 2004 Jeep Liberty westward on Route 34 in the vicinity of Old Mill Road.

As Egan was negotiating a curve in the road, she lost control of the Jeep, which crossed into the eastbound lane, struck a snowbank, turned sideways,  hit a tree stump and then flipped, landing in a ditch, police report.

Ambulance volunteers transported Egan to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police verbally warned Egan for failure to drive to the right.
