Girl Scout Council To Hold Spring Fundraising Breakfast

DANBURY — “Today’s Girls, Tomorrow’s Leaders” is the title of the Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut’s annual fundraising breakfast, to be held on Friday, March 31, from 7:30 until 9 am at The Inn at Ethan Allen.

Event co-chairs Debbie Roche and Jeff Ryer are organizing an informative program to provide business and community leaders throughout the greater Danbury area with an overview of contemporary Girl Scouting in Fairfield County and the opportunity to hear first hand from an exceptional Girl Scout the reasons why Girl Scouting is so important to her life and personal development.

“Today, more than ever, our communities need to support positive programs for our young people,” said Debbie Roche. “Girl Scouting offers girls progressive opportunities to develop skills and values that realize each girl’s potential and empower her to make wise and healthy choices.

“In addition, Girl Scouting is a vital force in our towns and cities. Whether collecting food and clothing for the needy or working to improve the environment and community facilities, these young women are living the Girl Scout mandate to help others and make the world a better place,” she continued.

The Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut serves over 9,000 girls in grades K through 12 – or nearly one out of every five girls in that age bracket – as well as over 5,200 adult members and volunteers in the Council’s 15 Fairfield County towns and cities. The central Danbury location for this event is meant to attract supporters from the nine more northern communities within the Council’s service area (Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston, and Wilton).

Professionals and business and community leaders are invited to attend and participate in this event. Girl Scouts benefit their communities, so communities are being asked to help Girl Scouting continue to be the positive regional force that addresses the needs of today’s girls, forges the programs to help them, and better prepares girls to meet life’s challenges as responsible citizens.
