Jewish Federation Sponsors Programs

SOUTHBURY — “Portal to America: The Jews of the Lower East Side 1870-1925” will be presented at the Southbury Public Library on Monday afternoon, February 28 at 1 pm. Southbury resident Anita Liebeskind produced this original slide presentation and will narrate it.

This program is being shown in anticipation of “A Walking Tour of the Lower East Side,” a trip which will take place on Sunday, March 26th. The  Walking Tour, conducted by Big Onion, a professional walking tour in New York City, will include luxury bus transportation and lunch at a Lower East Side restaurant.

Portal to America and A Walking Tour of the Jewish Lower East Side are sponsored by the Federation: Jewish Communities of Western CT, Inc. Registration forms for the walking tour will be available at the library during the slide presentation.

Portal to America is free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. In case of inclement weather, Portal to America will be shown on Tuesday, February 29, at 1 pm at the Southbury Public Library. For more information, call Abby Greenwald at the Federation, 203/263-5121 ext. 308.
