Antiques Show Returning To Newtown On March 5
Newtown Historical Society will host its 15th Annual Antiques Show at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown, on Sunday, March 5. The show will run from 10 am to 4 pm in the town hallâs auditorium.
Select antiques dealers will display a variety of furniture, textiles, silver, brass, lamps, baskets, dolls, tools, china, maps, and paper ephemera. Among the diverse dealers will be Fred Kampmeier of Sandy Hook, who will be bringing his collection of 18th and 19th Century tools, pattern glass, a spinning wheel and early house hardware; William Blake of Trumbull will display antique prints, maps, advertising and art work; the Seamans of Bethel, with furniture, sewing and decorative smalls; and Shelley Smith of Bethlehem, with Steiff animals, bears, and early toys.
From formal to country, larger furniture to smalls, all will be available at one of the areaâs best shows. Admission is $3 per person, with proceeds from this fundraiser to benefit the society in both its public programming and its preservation of the Matthew Curtiss House and its collections.
The circa 1750 Matthew Curtiss House, located across the street from Edmond Town Hall, will be open during show hours for free tours of its 18th Century room settings and later artifacts collections. For further information, call 426-5937.
