Gymnasts Third In South-West Conference Meet

Newtown High School’s gymnastics team placed third in the South-West Conference Championships at New Milford High on February 13. Host New Milford won the competition with a score of 138.550, Brookfield was second with a score of 134.250, and NHS was next with a 128.450.

Newtown’s Ellie Ehret placed fourth on the balance beam with a score of 8.600 and tied for fourth on the floor with an 8.900.

One of the athletes Newtown Coach Kim Kane instructs in club gymnastics, Joel Barlow-Bethel’s Riley Kane (no relation to the Newtown coach) took first in the all around with a score of 35.900.

The Nighthawks got back to regular season action with a couple of meets to close out the winter season. They defeated Joel Barlow-Bethel 101.500 to 92.400 at Newtown Gymnastics Academy on February 15, then lost 117.350 to 107.000 to host Barlow-Bethel at Gymnastics Revolution in Brookfield on February 17.
