Fraser Woods Montessori School students presented Research Day projects on February 7, when friends and family were invited to visit to learn about the topics students chose to study.

Research Day is an annual event at Fraser Woods Montessori School. Students in first to seventh grade completed research projects for the day. Parents sat in classrooms to listen to the presentations.

Following the event, Head of School Chris Robertson explained for the younger grades’ projects, presentations utilize display boards, and the students write shorter papers on their chosen topic.

“By the time the students are in middle school, their presentations are digital, and they speak from talking points on cards,” wrote Mr Robertson. “In addition to learning how to assimilate and analyze information at a young age, children develop public speaking skills as well as a comfort with speaking in front of a large audience. These types of projects are intentional ways [Fraser Woods Montessori School] cultivates the skills children will need to be successful beyond eighth grade.”

After each student shared their presentation, parents and visitors clapped to show their appreciation for each student’s work.
