Louis S. Coury, 78, of Danbury, husband of Janet (Sands) Coury, died February 13 at Danbury Hospital. Mr Coury was born in Danbury, June 21, 1929, son of Salim and Badhia (Rizkallah) Coury.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, Mr Coury is survived by a brother, Elie S. Coury and his wife, Doris, of Newtown; two sons, Samuel Coury and his wife, Sharon, of Bristol and George Coury and his wife, Lisa, and their children, Tyler and Samuel, of Orange; two daughters, Suzanne Adams and her husband, Paul, and their children, Danielle and Alexa, of Monroe, and Heather Edwards and her husband, Paul, and their children, Megan and Zachary, of Seymour; two nephews, Joseph E. Dimyan and his wife, Mary Ellen, and their children, Rebecca, Brittany, and Jennifer, and Steven Coury and his wife, Lara, and their children, Jack and Elizabeth. In addition to his parents Mr Coury was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Coury Dimyan and Genevieve M. Coury, who died on January 19, 2008; and by a nephew, Greg M. Coury.
He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School, Class of 1948, and Fairfield University. He was a US veteran of the Korean War. Mr Coury was a retired banker, having been employed with the former City National Bank and later the Union Savings Bank where he was a senior vice president and loan officer, retiring in 1991. A former member of the Rotary Club of Danbury, he was a member of the American Legion and of St Anthonyâs Maronite Catholic Church, Danbury.
The Liturgy of the Resurrection was celebrated February 16 in St Anthonyâs Maronite Catholic Church, Danbury. Burial followed in St Peter Cemetery.
