Garner Inmate Arrested In Prison Incident

While a Garner Correctional Institution correction officer was breaking up a fight between inmates at the state high-security prison on Nunnawauk Road on February 15, an inmate assaulted the correction officer, state police said.

State police said that inmate Gene Hilton, 37, attempted to spit on and bite the correction officer.

After an investigation, state police charged Hilton with assault on a peace officer. Hilton was scheduled for arraignment on the charge on February 19 in Danbury Superior Court.

Hilton is an unsentenced inmate in Garner who is being held on $125,000 bail on a pending charge of first-degree robbery.
