Fred H. Bennett, 88, of Newtown, died February 15 at Bethel Health Care Center. Mr Bennett was the husband of Margaret (Allen) Bennett. He was born in Shelton, November 2, 1919, a son of Fred and Catherine (Condon) Bennett.

Mr Bennett was raised on his family’s farm in Shelton. In his earlier years, he was employed as a millwright for the Carpenters Union. A resident of Newtown since 1962, Mr Bennett was the owner of Poverty Hollow Antiques until his retirement in 1998.

In addition to his wife, Mr Bennett is survived by two sons, Fred M. Bennett of Holden, Mass., and David Bennett of Bridgewater; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held February 19 from the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
