Benjamin O. Holcomb

‘Best Dad Ever’

Benjamin O. Holcomb, 79, of Monroe, formerly of Norwalk, died February 15 in his home. Born in Glens Falls, N.Y., the son of Clinton and Mildred Holcomb, he was the beloved husband of Eileen (Haggerty) Holcomb.

In addition to his loving wife of 49 years, he is survived by three sons, Glenn Holcomb and his wife, Amy, Douglas Holcomb and his wife, DeeDee, all of Newtown, and Robert Holcomb and his wife, Mona, of Hilo, Hawaii; and a daughter, Elizabeth Forger and her husband, Walter, of Monroe, who considered him the “best dad ever.” He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Casey, Katie, Sean, James, Alison, Ben, Ryan, Lauren, and Sarah; as well as a brother, Clinton C. Holcomb; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Clifford L. Holcomb.

He had served in the US Navy during the Korean War, and had retired from Branson Instruments as director of human resources.

A funeral Mass was held February 21 at St Stephen Church, Trumbull. Burial with military honors followed at Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.
