Marguerite (Ligouri) Thanes

Marguerite (Ligouri) Thanes, 80, of Bridgeport, died February 19 in Cambridge Manor, Fairfield.

She was the mother of Audrey Athanas of Sandy Hook.

Born in Natick, Mass., she resided in Bridgeport for 60 years. She was a member of the Teuta Society of St George.

She is also survived by her husband, George (Athanas) Thanes; two other daughters, Jeanette Alston of Monroe and Betty Athanas of Bridgeport; one son, Peter Athanas of Bridgeport; two granddaughters, Sarah Notar and Erin Alston; a great-grandson, Jonathan Avila; two sisters, Julia Anastas and Mary Liguori, both of Massachusetts; and one brother, James Liguori of Massachusetts; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Services were held on February 23 in St George Albanian Orthodox Church with the Archpriest Sergie C. Bouteneff officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery.

The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport, was in charge of arrangements.
