9th Annual Childrenâs Day
DANBURY â Ambulances, EMS vehicles, a fire truck, a police cruiser, prize drawings and plenty of free health screenings, will all be a part of the Ninth Annual Childrenâs Day to be celebrated at Danbury Hospital during Children and Healthcare⢠week, on Saturday, March 18, from 10 am to 2 pm.
The purpose of Childrenâs Day is to promote the health and well-being of children and families in the community with a focus geared toward the unique needs of children. There will be plenty of free parking in the hospitalâs Blue (Hospital Avenue) and Red (Locust Avenue) parking garages.
Special events include: inspection of an ambulance, EMS vehicle, fire truck, police cruiser and STAT Flight helicopter (11 am to noon, weather permitting); tours of the Emergency and Radiology Departments, Duracell Center for Ambulatory Surgery and Pediatrics Unit; three 40-minute performances in the auditorium by John Farrell, singer/songwriter/storyteller; face painting and Ms Bubbles the Clown.
There also will be free health screenings for children including vision, podiatry, blood pressure and height/weight profiles.
There will be special booths promoting nutrition, dental care, âAsk a Pediatrician,â and a Child Identification Kids Care Package (passport photo ID) presented by the Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association and sponsored by the Danbury Hospital Center for Child and Adolescent Treatment Services.
