On Friday, February 14, members of Newtown Senior Center gathered to celebrate Valentine’s Day together. The senior center was at capacity with 75 members enjoying chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes and gravy, and more. Everyone was on theme — the senior center was a sea of red and pink.

David Inman played the tenor saxophone for the crowd. He played classic hits such as “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller’s Orchestra. Inman also played some patriotic tunes such as “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which had a lot of the partygoers on their feet with their hands to their hearts.

Members of Human Services worked to bring meals and desserts to the attendees, along with Connor Negri, the assistant director of Parks & Recreation. After the meal, attendees enjoyed several heart-shaped, Valentine’s Day themed cakes.

Alexa Griffin, the social worker at the senior center, walked around selling raffle tickets for a few prizes. There were assorted Russell Stover chocolate hearts, some gift baskets with popcorn and other snacks, and a Bluetooth speaker.
