Danbury Health Care Affiliates Help Cendant Mobility Win Innovation Award
DANBURY â Cendant Mobilityâs Danbury headquarters was searching for an innovative way to improve the health and welfare of its employees and at the same time address rising health care costs. Cendant Mobility had focused on offering preventative health screenings, vaccinations, lunch and learn sessions, and on-site fitness classes. While these initiatives were well attended and feedback was positive, they wanted a better approach.
In August of 2003, Cendant Mobility became a pioneer in the relocation industry, by offering the convenience of an on-site medical facility at its Danbury corporate headquarters facility. For medical direction and management of the Mobility Wellness Center (MWC) Cendant selected Danbury Health Care Affiliates. The Mobility Wellness Center has been recognized and awarded an âInnovation Prizeâ from the Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership.
The Mobility Wellness Center is open 37 hours per week. Physician Assistant Drew Morten of Danbury Health Care Affiliates manages and staffs the center.
The Mobility Wellness Center provides convenient access to diagnosis and treatment of occupational and nonoccupational illnesses and injuries; preventative health screenings and vaccinations; urgent and emergent care, triage services; basic lab services; information and counseling for coping with sick family members; overseas travel counseling and special vaccinations; and the coordination of wellness programs.
The Mobility Wellness Center allows employees easy access to quality treatment; eliminates the obstacles, such as scheduling an appointment with the doctor that fits in with the familyâs schedule, the driving time required to get to the doctorâs office and the precious family time lost while waiting to be treated.
âThe Mobility Wellness Center benefit allows Cendant Mobilityâs employees the option of seeking treatment early on, before their condition worsens, ultimately saving a loss in employee productivity,â said Drew Morton.
Cendant Mobility measures the effectiveness of the Mobility Wellness Center through company surveys, customer/client service results, program evaluations, employee activity, cost savings, and employee retention. In all measures the Mobility Wellness Center receives high ratings.
Mobility Wellness Center has treated more than 6,000 patients, and employees have saved more than $90,000 in co-pays to date. The company estimates it has gained three hours of productivity per employee. This represents the time it would take for an employee to drive to the doctorâs office and wait for treatment.
âCendant Mobility is very pleased with our partnership with Danbury Health Care Affiliates that helped us win this award,â said Lauren Gillett, director of human resources âOur employees are our most valuable asset and their health and well-being is critical to our organization.â
