Edward R. Morrissey

Edward R. Morrissey died at his home on White Pine Drive in Brookfield on February 18 at the age of 68. He was the husband of Joan M (Cartwright) Morrissey.

He was the father of James, Joseph, Kevin and Donald Morrissey, all of Newtown.

Mr Morrissey was born July 31, 1931 in Jersey City, N.J., son of the late Joseph S. and Leonia (Flad) Morrissey. He graduated with a master’s in business administration from N.Y.U. He was a veteran of the Army and served in the occupation of Japan during the 1950s. He was an accountant, CPA, serving as director of auditing for Uniroyal in Middlebury, retiring in 1985 after 20 years of service.

He was a member of St Joseph Church in Brookfield.

Besides his wife and sons, he is survived by another son, Edward of White Plains, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Morrissey of Williamsport, Penn; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on February 21 at St Joseph Church. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.

The Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, was in charge of arrangements.
