Boys' Basketball Team Wins, Ready For Senior Night
Newtown High School's boys' basketball team spoiled Weston's Senior Night with a 49-36 win on February 20. Up next, the Nighthawks will look to celebrate their own Senior Night festivities with a win over Bunnell of Stratford.
The Nighthawks led Weston 22-12 at halftime and were up by just seven early in the third quarter before pulling ahead 31-20 heading to the fourth.
Jack Mulligan had 14 points, Riley Ward scored 13, and Tyson Mobley added ten for the Nighthawks.
Newtown's defense was solid throughout.
"That was our number one focus. Anytime you go on the road and to a place that has Senior Night you've got to play at an energy level that's higher than the opponent's," Newtown Coach Tim Tallcouch said.
The Nighthawks will be on the opposite side on Tuesday, February 25, when they host Senior Night and the Bunnell Bulldogs for a 7 pm tip.
