Nighthawks Stand Out In Track And Field State Open Meet

Newtown High School had strong representation against the best indoor track and field competitors in Connecticut at the State Open, held at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven on February 16.

Katie Ryan pole-vaulted ten feet for fifth place. Ally McCarthy placed eighth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:40.69. Audrey Benson came in 15th in the 55 hurdles in 9.46. The 4x800 relay team of Ella Hage, Lu Hage, Sophia Guevara, and Emily Tressler placed 16th in 10:35.60. Aiden Jasinski was 16th in the pole vault competition, clearing the bar at 12 feet.
