Newtown High School’s girls’ basketball South-West Conference playoff game has again been rescheduled to an earlier start time; the game has been bumped to 1 pm on Saturday, February 21, due to anticipated snow.

A scheduling change for a 3 pm start was initially made after the sports section of The Newtown Bee went to press this week. In the two articles covering the Nighthawks on page B-1, the original game time of 7 pm is listed for the quarterfinal contest between host Newtown and Immaculate of Danbury.

According to the second update, Newtown’s 1 pm game will follow an 11 am contest between Notre Dame-Fairfield and Joel Barlow of Redding, originally slated for 5 pm before the two changes. Both games are at Newtown High School on Saturday.

The tournament semifinals will be held at Newtown High on Tuesday, February 24 with start times of 5:30 and 7:30 pm. The winners advance to the February 26 championship game, set for 7:30 pm, at a site to be determined based on which teams qualify.

The State Open track championships, initially scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, will now begin at 10 am. The track meet will take place at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

As of early afternoon on Friday, February 20, the Class LL wrestling state championships, to take place at Trumbull High, are scheduled as planned, with bouts beginning at 4:30 pm this afternoon. Wrestling matches are slated to take place throughout the day on Saturday, culminating with the finals in the evening hours — weather permitting.
