Where Were The Parents?
Where Were The Parents?
To the Editor:
On February 8, at about 2:15 am, a 2004 Volvo slammed into an occupied house on The Boulevard â my house, where I and my wife were home in bed. Four 16-year-old girls, including the driver, had been drinking somewhere before this âaccident.â Two of Miss No Nameâs friends ran off into the night as I called police.
Newtown Police responded within minutes and apprehended all of Miss No Nameâs friends. Miss No Name was arrested after failing a standard field sobriety test. I just want to know where were the parents?
My wife and I raised two girls in this house and always knew where they were at 16. Who is responsible for Miss No Nameâs accident? These girls were drinking at one of Miss No Nameâs friendâs house. Again, where were the parents? How does a parent give their newly licensed child a 2004 Volvo and let them go out for the night without a curfew or knowing where they are? One of the girls called her house and had whoever answered the phone wake up her parents.
Now I have the inconvenience of having to repair a huge hole in the side of my house in the winter, along with the added cost of costly heat going through the walls. And Newtown does not know the identity of Miss No Name. Maybe if we canât name her we should at least be able to identify the parents. They are obviously more at fault. The kid is probably imitating what she sees at home.
