Valentines On View

BROOKFIELD — The Brookfield Museum and Historical Society is exhibiting a collection of turn of the century Valentine’s Day cards and postcards this month.

The display is part of a collection of vintage cards received over the years by Mrs Carrie Ferry of Brookfield and spans the period from the turn of the century to the 1950s.

According to Brookfield Museum curator Barbara Golde the collection, which has been a lifelong avocation for Mrs Ferry, contains hundreds of cards covering all holiday occasions along with touching messages from family members, friends and neighbors. The collection was donated to the museum and will be on display for the remainder of February.

The museum which also has on exhibit a large collection of photographs, documents and artifacts relating to Brookfield’s history, is open each Saturday from noon to 4 pm. Admission is free.

Brookfield Museum and Historical Society is at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center. For more information call 740-8140 or visit BrookfieldCTHistory.org.
