Ambulance Corps To Hold Medical Training Course

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps will sponsor an instructional course designed to teach people the basics of becoming an emergency medical technician.

Known as Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B), the course is slated to start March 23, and run through June 3.

The course will be taught at the ambulance corps training facility at the Kendro building (town offices) at 31 Peck’s Lane. Training sessions will be held from 6 to 10 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, with occasional sessions being held during the day on Saturdays.

The fee for the course is $450. The cost is $350 if the student is affiliated with the Newtown emergency medical service or with a Newtown firefighting organization.

People interested in attending  the training program should call the ambulance corps’ garage at 270-4380, and ask for Liz, Blair, or Kris. Preregistration for the instructional course is required.
