Musical Feast Of Saint Patrick

DANBURY — In honor of the Feast of Saint Patrick, Dr David Machell has organized two musical performances at Western CT State University next week. Both events will take place on Wednesday, March 15. Admission is free for both.

At 10:30 am a concert called “The Celtic Winds” will offer an unaccompanied performance by Dr Machell on Irish pennywhistles, bagpipes and other wind instruments. The concert will take place in the university’s westside classroom building, third floor study area, called The Fishbowl. The westside campus is on University Boulevard, off Mill Plain Road; the entrance is opposite Super Stop & Shop.

At noon, Dr Machell will present his 20th annual Bagpiper on the Green, a traditional outdoor performance on the quadrangle (outside the Student Center) at the university’s downtown campus, on White Street. For this performance Dr Machell will be accompanied by Professor David Smith on the field drum.

The programs are dedicated this year to the memory of Maureen O’Hara. Mrs O’Hara was the associate director of admissions at WestConn who, after many years of loving service to the university, died in December.
