Susan Fund Scholarship Award Applications Available

The Susan Fund, a Fairfield County-based scholarship program for cancer survivors who wish to pursue higher education, has begun the 2011 application process.

This fund is for students who are Fairfield County residents, have been diagnosed with cancer at some time in their lives, and are planning to attend an accredited college or training program.  Awards are based on academic achievement, financial need, and community involvement.

The fund was established in memory of Susan Davis Lloyd, a teenager from Westport whose dream was to attend college despite her cancer diagnosis and treatments. Since its inception, The Susan Fund has distributed more than $1 million in scholarship money, and recipients have been from almost every community in Fairfield County.
