Family: My wife is Jodi, and our oldest son is Scot, Jr, who is 23 years old. Our middle son is Samuel, 21, and our youngest son is Joseph, who is 13 years old.
Pets: We have a 7-year-old golden retriever, Carly, and we have a 2-year-old yellow Lab, Cooper. He is a handful!
How long have you lived in Newtown? We moved to Newtown in July 2010 from Massachusetts. My wife works for Nestle Waters out of Stamford, and she got a promotion. We looked all over and kind of fell in love with Newtown. We had a 100-year-old house in Massachusetts that I had renovated. It was my baby, so it was hard to leave. But we bought a 17-year-old home in Newtown, and I kind of like having a newer house.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love to fish. Iâve been fishing since I was a little kid. I do a lot of freshwater kayak fishing, so I like small lakes and ponds best. Iâm still finding my way for fishing spots around here. I like to golf, too, and I actually like all sports. Iâm a big Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. I have a shop and I enjoy making things and fixing things.
Do you have a favorite movie? Shawshank Redemption is a fantastic movie. And Jaws is my second favorite. I can quote every line from that movie.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? Anywhere tropical. I usually take one day and do some saltwater fishing. Weâve been to Mexico, Aruba, and Puerto Rico. My favorite, though, is Costa Rica. Itâs beautiful, and there is great fishing there.
What is the best thing about Newtown? The town itself is beautiful, and I love that. People are very friendly here, and we love the Creamery. We were there one day and a car full of teenage boys drove past. One stuck his head out the window and shouted, âWe love ice cream!â I laughed and thought, only in Newtown would that happen. Sometimes you live somewhere for ten years and never meet your neighbors, but everyone has been very helpful to us here.
Do you have a hero? My father. He passed away five years ago. He was a great father and he was big on the outdoors. He was a very hard worker, and a real âmanâs man.â He was a tough father, but I respect the way he raised me.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Do it right the first time. Iâm a little bit of a perfectionist, but if you do it once, you should do it right.
What makes you happiest? My family. Since weâve moved and our oldest son is in Virginia, and our middle son in Massachusetts, and itâs just the three of us in Newtown, it is great when we can be together. My family is everything. This Christmas we had Christmas with just the five of us for a long time, and it was fantastic. The other thing that makes me happy, is catching a big fish.
