Masonicare Taking Lunch & Learn On The Road

FAIRFIELD — As people age, they may become concerned when they misplace car keys or forget a phone number they have dialed many times. For most older adults, however, lapses in memory are a normal part of aging and not a warning sign of mental deterioration.

On Thursday, February 24, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, Masonicare is sponsoring a free Lunch & Learn program to be held at the Fairfield Masonic Lodge, 131 Beach Road. Guest speaker will be internist and geriatrician Dr Yvette Fernandez, medical director for Masonicare at Newtown, Masonicare’s long-term care, assisted living, and dementia care and rehabilitation facility in Newtown.

Dr Fernandez will discuss memory loss and explain what is common and to be expected — and what is not.

Wallingford-based Masonicare, the state’s leading not-for-profit provider of senior healthcare and retirement living, provides Lunch & Learn programs for seniors and their caregivers throughout Connecticut as a public service.

The program is free and includes a complimentary light lunch, but reservations are required. Call Carl Anderson at 800-982-3919 by February 18 to reserve a space.
