Just when momentum seemed to be shifting over to the undefeated Panthers, and with less than 30 seconds to go and the game knotted at 12, Chloe “Ice” Bigwarfe of the Badgers was fouled and stepped to the line to shoot a pair. As a hush fell on the otherwise boisterous Hawley Coliseum crowd, Chloe, oozing determination, nailed her first free throw to give the feisty Badgers the advantage needed to secure the victory. Offensively, the Badgers were led by Ally Tolson and Tess Davenport; four points each. Ashley Solomon was stellar at point guard. Celtics 23, Red Bulls 19: The Red Bulls are one of the top scoring teams in the league, but the Celtics were out to slow them down this day, in what turned out to be an exciting, low scoring and super close fifth grade game this past weekend. The Celtics would take the lead, but could not pull away against the energetic Red Bulls, as the opponent kept it close and made a huge rally at the end to get within one point with under two minutes to play. The Red Bulls defense was tough, but overall the Celtics’ offense had an off scoring game, and at times it felt as if there was a lid over the hoop. Ian “The Beast)” Klepacki was the exception to the C’s stagnate offense, who pumped in 6 key points in this close game, while also contributing 3 boards, 2 steals, 1 block and 1 forced jump ball and had a great all-around game on both sides of the ball. The C’s overcame their off shooting night with hustle and help defense. The first quarter was low scoring, but the Celtics found their grove and got their run and gun style of offense up to full speed. Leading the C’s offense was “Never Nervous” Nick Harper who played a great all-around game on both sides of the ball, and has shown great improvement in his overall leadership as floor general. Never Nervous’s second half scoring outburst (8 points) and sweet pair of assists helped the Celtics to seal the victory against their hustling opponent. On defense, the Celtics continued to play their shutdown and help-style D. The Big Three C’s defenders for this game were led by “Jumpshot” Josh Harper, Mike “The Flash” Narducci and Owen “The Rebounder” Rahr. Jumpshot and The Flash caused havoc for the Scorpions guards trying to run their offense, while The Rebounder, despite being undersized against the big opponent, controlled the glass and started the C’s offense with his crisp outlet passes or brought the ball up himself as point-forwards often do. The Scorpions were missing three key players but played their hearts out and kept the game within reach at halftime. Ben Terry had 8 points and Greg Brissette had 7 points to pace the Scorpions. Ben Terry also led the team in rebounds with 13. Doug Carriero and Connor DiNallo were all over the court playing great defense. The six players on the Huskies team had a workout, led by David Daria’s 11 points and Christian Adam’s 9. Tom Fitzgerald and Kevin Reiss defense proved too much for the Black Knights. The Black Knights cold shooting (6 for 38) continued after Saturday’s fourth quarter. In an effort to spark the offense Brooks Petershack played aggressively stealing the ball 3 times. The Black Knights were strong on the offensive boards but couldn’t get the rock to fall into the hole. The Black Knights rebounding game was excellent as Dwyer Grimes had 6 rebounds, John Payne 5, Teddy Wojcik 5, and Kent Mullen 4.

Red Bulls 25, Hornets 16: The Hornets balanced scoring attack was not enough to overcome the offense of the Red Bulls. The Red Bulls were able to charge out of the gate in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Hornets. A balanced attack by Ryan Patrick, Evan Landgrebe, Kyle Gaynor, Ethan Aug, Sam Parsons, Adam Farley, and Ben Harrison, all who scored in the game, proved to be too much for the Hornets.
