Support In A Time Of Grief

To The Editor:

On Monday, January 31, a terrible accident occurred on Interstate 84 in Danbury.

Christopher Roberto of Newtown was critically injured when he was hit repeatedly by a 14-year-old-driver with no license. The driver and passenger walked away from the accident but unfortunately after a week and a half in a coma, Chris passed away on February 9. I have spent much time with his family and it is an extremely heart-wrenching situation. To add to this all, Chris leaves a 12-year-old daughter and his family is desperate to safeguard her future.

Perhaps you knew Chris, and if you did then you know the type of quality individual he was. If you did not know Chris, let me tell you a little about him.

Chris was 35 years old and a father of a beautiful 12-year-old daughter, Teresa, whom he cherished with his life. Chris had lived in Newtown all of his life growing up with his mother, Pat, and his brothers, Jim and Joe. Chris was a business owner of a water purifying company based out of Newtown that he had successfully and individually grown by dedication and hard work in order to provide for his daughter. I find it difficult to find the appropriate words to describe my friend. I have been lucky enough to be his friend for the past 15 years. He was the type of person that is there for you whenever you need anything without the expectation of anything in return. He had this personality that illuminates and just makes you feel fortunate to know him.

The family’s focus now is on Teresa. Please pray for the Robertos through this horrible time. Any donation that you can make would be greatly appreciated and will go into a trust for his daughter. Donations can be made to: The Teresa Roberto Fund c/o Pat Roberto, 24 Buttonball Drive, Sandy Hook CT 06482.

I thank you greatly for your kindness,

Sincerely,

Nick Arfaras
