South Main DUI
Police said that after observing motorist Christopher Daley, 33, of 10 River Run violate driving laws on South Main Street, they stopped him to investigate at about 12:34 am February 7.
After failing field sobriety testing, police charged Daley with driving under the influence, following too closely, and failure to drive to the right.
After processing the arrest, police released Daley on $50 bail for a February 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
ATV Theft
Police report that sometime overnight between 12 and 7 am February 6, someone stole a four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle (ATV) from the bed of a pickup truck that was parked in a residential driveway at 18 Old Bethel Road. The theft is a felony.
Stolen was a green 2003 Bombardier ATV, which is worth $3,000. Police ask anyone with information about the theft to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.
Chevrolet Vs Saturn
Motorist Mariann Adams, 46, of 24 Orchard Hill Road, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier, was stopped on southbound Currituck Road at its intersection with Main Street, just behind stopped southbound motorist Mary Luf, 43, of Southbury, who was driving a 2002 Saturn SL-2 sedan at about 4 pm February 9, police report.
The Chevrolet then rolled into the rear end of the Saturn, police said. There were no injuries.
Police verbally warned Adams for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Currituck Deer
Motorist Xiao Ping, 41, of New Milford was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima westward near 78 Currituck Road about 6 pm February 9, when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the auto, police report.
The deer died. Ping was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Longview Burglary
Sometime between February 7 and 11, someone burglarized a house on Longview Road, according to police. Police are investigating the crime and ask those with information on the break-in to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.
High School Incident
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a 15-year-old boy turned himself over to police on the night of February 13 and was charged with first degree criminal mischief and with tampering with a motor vehicle, police said.
Police said the charges stem from an incident that occurred last October 26 in which the youth allegedly damaged an auto parked at Newtown High School. First degree criminal mischief involves more than $1,500 of property damage. It is a felony.
After processing the boyâs arrest, police released him on a promise to appear March 7 in Danbury Juvenile Court. State law shields the identities of people under age 16 who are charged with crimes.

Three-Vehicle Accident
Police report a three-vehicle accident on Route 34, near the Sandy Hook firehouse substation, about 8:30 am February 12.
Motorist James OâDonoghue, 16, of Oxford, who was driving a 1995 Honda Accord westward, attempted to retrieve an item from the floor of that auto, but inadvertently crossed into the eastbound lane, colliding head-on with eastbound motorist Neil Whittlesey, 49, of Morris, who was driving a 1989 Volvo 245 station wagon, police said.
Eastbound motorist Sharon Closius, 47, of Bethel, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan behind the Volvo, then collided with the Honda, police said.
All three motorists received injuries in the accident, according to police.
Sandy Hook firefighters went to the incident. Police issued OâDonoghue an infraction for failure to drive to the right.
Church Hill Road
While both vehicles were stopped for traffic on Church Hill Road, near Interstate 84, at about 12:09 pm February 10, motorist Edna Frey, 50, of 2 Echo Valley Road, who was driving a 2002 BMW X-5 sport-utility vehicle, struck the rear end of a 1997 Eagle Vision driven by Christopher McArdle, 44, of 41 Bennetts Bridge Road, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Frey a written warning for traveling at an unsafe distance. Police gave McArdle a written warning for failure to carry a current automotive insurance identification card.
Glen Road Crash
Motorist Richard Fattibene, 35, of 6 Lillinonah Drive, who was driving a 1984 Chrysler LeBaron, was making a right turn into a driveway at 27 Glen Road about 7:12 pm February 8, when the Chrysler was struck by a 1988 Volvo 240 station wagon driven by Kathryn Fullman, 17, of 15 Bridge End Farm Lane, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police issued Fullman a written warning for passing on the right.
Oldsmobile Vs Dodge
Motorist Hin Wong, 68, of 9 Farm Field Ridge Road, who was driving a 1997 Oldsmobile Delta sedan eastward on Schoolhouse Hill Road about 1:50 pm February 8, stopped for a stop sign and then attempted to turn left onto northbound Walnut Tree Hill Road, police report.
The turning Oldsmobile then collided with motorist Peter Gunn, 61, of 13 Valley Field Road, who was driving a 1995 Dodge Dakota pickup truck southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Wong a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Five Charges
Police report they stopped northbound motorist Cherelyn Maher, 20, of Brookfield on February 12 on Toddy Hill, when while performing radar speed checks police noticed that Maher was driving a Ford Windstar faster than the posted speed limit.
On investigating, police charged Maher with traveling too fast, driving while under suspension, carrying insufficient automotive insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and misuse of marker plates.
Police released Maher on $200 bail for a February 23 court appearance.
Interstate Accident
Motorist Robert Braatz, 56, of Southbury, who was driving a 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis on the Exit 10 on-ramp of eastbound Interstate 84 about 1:55 am February 7, slid on the slick roadway and struck guard cabling along the right side of the ramp, state police report. Braatz was not injured. State police said they verbally warned Braatz.
Weapons Charges
At about 5:52 pm February 14, police responded to a report of a dispute at a Pond Brook Road home involving a 15-year-old girl and her parents.
The girl then left home on foot and could not be located, police said. Less than an hour later, police located the girl on South Main street, near Sand Hill Plaza.
On investigating, police found the girl to possess a set of brass knuckles and a âbutterflyâ knife, so they charged her with two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon.
Police then released the girl into the custody of her parents for a February 28 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court. State law shields the identities of people under age 16 who are charged with crimes.
Toddy Hill Crash
Motorist Vincent Caggianiello, 33, of 80 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 2001 Ford Escort southward on Toddy Hill Road on February 13, signaled to make a right turn onto Button Shop Road, police said.
As the Ford was making the turn, it was struck from behind by southbound motorist Jessica Jasinski, 21, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2001 Saturn, police said. Caggianiello reported minor back pain, but declined medical attention, police said.
Police issued Jasinski an infraction for following too closely.
Drug Charge
Police said they received a call from Newtown High School administrators late on the morning of February 14, so they responded to the school to investigate.
Police charged a 15-year-old boy with possession of a controlled substance. The boy was released on a promise to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on February 28. State law shields the identities of those under age 16 who are charged with crimes.
Watch Missing
Sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 am on Saturday, February 12, a ladyâs gold Omnitron-brand watch was lost in the vicinity of 6 Queen Street, according to police. Anyone who finds the watch is asked to turn it in at the police station at 3 Main Street.
Drug Arrest
While on patrol about 10:30 pm February 15, police observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot at Georgeâs Pizza and Restaurant at 1 Dodgingtown Road, so they stopped to investigate.
Police said they questioned the driver, Sara Tilford, 18, of Bethel, after which they found evidence and charged her with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After processing, police released Tilford on a promise to appear in court on March 1.
Swamp Road Crash
Motorist Tracey Smith, 46, of 8 Bristle Lane was driving a 2000 Dodge Durango eastward near 32 Swamp Road about 5 pm February 10, when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the auto, police said. Smith was not injured.
Toyota Off Road
Motorist Nicholas Harris, 17, of 95 Forest Drive was driving a 1986 Toyota Camry eastward on Edgelake Drive in Pootatuck Park about 10 pm February 11, when the auto went off the westbound road shoulder, struck a camping trailer, hit a wooden staircase and then went over an embankment, coming to rest in the yard at 123 Edgelake Drive, police report.
Harris was not injured. Police said they are investigating the accident.
Volkswagen Rollover
Motorist Aimee Clavette, 18, of 3 Fox Hollow Lane was driving a 1994 Volkswagen Golf northward near 117 Boggs Hill Road about 9:30 pm February 12, when while negotiating a curve in the road, Clavette lost control of the auto and went off the northbound road shoulder, police said.
The auto climbed an embankment, struck a utility pole and then rolled off the embankment, coming to rest on its roof on the roadway, police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Clavette to Danbury Hospital for treatment of a hand injury, police said. Police verbally warned Clavette for making a restricted turn.
Fox Run Lane
Sometime on February 9, someone burglarized a Fox Run Lane residence and stole many electronic devices, police said. Third degree larceny was committed, involving the theft of between $1,000 and $5,000 worth of goods. Fox Run Lane is a dead-end street off Great Hill Road. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the crime to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.
Cordless Drill
On February 16, a black-and-orange colored Black & Decker 14.4-volt cordless electric drill was found on Russett Road in the area between Rockywood Drive and Winesap Road. Police are holding the drill for safekeeping. The owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 426-5841 to claim the drill.
