June Melissa Smith Pomeroy, 68, of Hillside Circle, Brookfield, died Tuesday, February 15, at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Donald H.J. Pomeroy, Sr.

Mrs Pomeroy was born in Danbury, August 26, 1936, a daughter of the late Grover and Dorothy Lilley Smith.

She is survived by her three daughters, Dawn Lewis and her husband, Chris, of Newtown, Kim Webb and her husband, Elden, of Danbury, and Deborah L. Pomeroy of Brookfield; her son, Donald Pomeroy II of Brookfield; a brother, Arthur J. Smith of Leavenworth, Kan.; three sisters, Carol Duckett and Linda Wyatt, both of Bradenton, Fla., and Janet Adams of New Milford; eight grandchildren, Charles and James Loveland, Holly Geslien, Kellie, Melissa, Alan, Heather, and Samantha Webb; as well as two great-grandchildren, Katrina Geslien and Collin Loveland. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Grover Smith, Jr.

She attended Danbury schools, was a lifetime area resident, and had lived in Brookfield for more than 40 years. She worked at Barden’s in Danbury for 20 years, and then with her husband she owned and operated Lightning Fast Courier Service. She was a member of the Danbury Emblem Club #48, was an avid bowler, loved knitting, and traveling.

The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury, Friday, February 18, from 5 to 7 pm with a service to begin at 7 pm.

Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Brookfield in the spring.
