Ellen T.             Hall

Ellen T. Hall, a longtime resident of Newtown, died February 14 in Laurel Ridge Health Center, Ridgefield. Her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Richard W. Hall, was at her bedside.

Ellen was born in Lynn, Mass., a daughter of the late John and Ann (Doherty) Murphy. She was a graduate of St Mary’s High School in Lynn where she was a star debater.

Mrs Hall was an active parishioner of St Rose of Lima Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society and a religious education teacher. She also volunteered in the community.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Daniel Hall of Newtown; three daughters, Barbara Higgins and her husband, Jeff, of Orlando, Fla., Carolyn Simonson and her husband, Dennis, of New Fairfield, and Katie Charbonneau and her husband, Mike, of Southbury; two sisters, Patricia Murphy of Southbury and Margaret Lawlor of Lynn, Mass. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Justin and Alex Higgins, Jessica, Rebecca, Jake, and Sarah Simonson, and Derek Charbonneau.

Funeral services were held February 17 from the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring.
