Tourism Expert To Speak On African Wildlife
African traveler and explorer Cherri Briggs will appear at the monthly Lillinonah Audubon Society program at C.H. Booth Library on Thursday, February 24, at 7:30 pm, in the public meeting room. Her topic will be African wildlife as illustrated through a handpicked selection of her thousands of wildlife photographs.Â
Ms Briggsâ company, called Explore, Inc, has organized tours and expeditions for hundreds of individuals, groups, and museums, including the American Museum of Natural History and Harvardâs Museum of Natural History, and her destinations have included more than 18 countries.
She is a recognized authority on travel in the sub-Sahara, including Niger, Sudan, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Mozambique, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and the remote islands of the Indian Ocean.
She has consulted for World Bank, National Geographic, and holds an anthropology degree from UCLA.
Ms Briggsâ talk will highlight the many species of birds and wildlife that inhabit Zambiaâs Benguelu Swamps, the lower Zambezi River, Botswanaâs Okavango Delta, and Mozambiqueâs Lugenda River. She will also cover ongoing research on elephant behavior in Botswana and share her experiences of the positive influence of eco-tourism.
For those who cannot attend the Booth Library presentation on Thursday night, Ms Briggs will also be speaking at Middlebury Public Library the night before, on Wednesday, February 23, at 7 pm.
