The Western Connecticut Council of Governments (WestCOG) will be hosting an information session geared toward property owners to provide information on flood mitigation funding opportunities.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) makes grant funding available to help impacted property owners to reduce or eliminate future flood risk to homes and businesses (for example through structure elevation, buyout). To help the region take advantage of these programs, WestCOG provides free technical assistance through its Regional Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, supported by an experienced consultant team. Information sessions will educate property owners on these opportunities, discuss grant eligibility requirements, and offer free assistance.

The next upcoming session is February 27, 6 pm, via Zoom. For those interested in attending an information session, visit westcog.org/fma to register. For questions or more information, contact Program Manager Jaclyn Reelick at jreelick@westcog.org.
