Town Players of Newtown have scheduled auditions for Lanford Wilson’s Fifth Of July, which will be staged by the Newtown-based theater in late April and the first part of May.

Auditions will be Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10. They will run from 7-9 pm each night.

In this bittersweet family drama, disabled Vietnam veteran Ken Talley struggles to find meaning in life as he considers selling his family farmhouse. Meanwhile, old friends and family descend upon the farm for a vacation and while there, they try to outbid each other for the property.

Maureen Trotto of Monroe will direct.

The production calls for four men and four women. Actors should read the play in advance and be ready to read sides from the script. No appointment is necessary. All roles are available.

Rehearsals begin the week of March 16, and the production will run Friday and Saturday evenings, April 24-May 16, with two Sunday matinees.

Auditions will take place at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road in Newtown.

All questions may be directed to info@newtownplayers.org.

Town Players of Newtown is a community theater, currently in its 80th season.
