Prisoner Arrested On Weapon Charge

State police said they went to Danbury Superior Court on the morning of February 9 and served an arrest warrant there against prisoner Ivan Diaz, 44, charging him with possession of a weapon in a correctional institution.

State police said the arrest stems from a September 19 incident at Garner Correctional Institution, a state  high-security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road. The weapon charge is a felony.

Diaz was arraigned in court on the charge on February 9. He is scheduled to enter a plea to the charge when he returns to court on March 13.

Diaz was being held this week at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield where he is serving a 105-year prison sentence on a murder conviction.
