This nondenominational Christian church meets Sundays, 10:30 amâ1 pm, for Morning Worship, with fellowship immediately following the service. Additional programs and services include: The Lion of Judah Reach Out Ministry, which helps men and women and teens transition from prison life to society; shelter for battered and abused women; housing for ex-offenders and battered women. Newtown Bible Church is a Bible-centered New Testament church that focuses on exalting God through the clear exposition of His inspired word (2 Tim. 3:16). The topic of the 9 and 11 am worship services Sunday, February 19 will be âSocial Responsibility Toward Our Community from the Islamic Perspective,â by Shazeeda Kahn, who adds, âThe Islamic tradition is deeply rooted in social justice and it is our responsibility toward God. These Divine principles must be manifested in our actions in order to positively affect our community.â Rev Barbara Fast will be leading worship. Next week, Sunday, February 26, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury will feature a program on capital punishment at both services with guest speaker Dr George Kain, an associate professor in the Division of Justice and Law Administration at Western Connecticut State University. He will discuss current efforts to abolish the death penalty in Connecticut and describe the prospects for Connecticut to become the 16th state to abolish the death penalty in this session of the legislature. Visitors are welcome to attend the program and invited to stay for refreshments.
