Alexandra Cernick of Newtown was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham, located in Madison, N.J.

 Annemieke A. Martino of Sandy Hook has been selected for inclusion on the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the fall 2011 semester at St Lawrence University in Canton, N,Y. To be eligible for the Dean’s List at St Lawrence, a student must complete at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a perfect 4.0 scale for the semester.

Jacob Dauz, a sophomore exercise science major from Sandy Hook, and John Grimaldi, a junior physical education major from Sandy Hook’ were named to the Dean’s List at SUNY Cortland for the fall 2011 semester. At the college, honorees must earn a grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while completing 12 or more credit hours of classes during the semester.

The fall semester Dean’s List at Bryant University, Smithfield, R.I., includes Faith Mangiafico, a freshman finance major from Newtown; Matthew Wright, a senior international business major from Sandy Hook; and Shane Wurtz, a sophomore finance major from Sandy Hook.

Don Cervone of Newtown graduated from the University of New Haven, in West Haven, on January 14 with a masters of business administration degree in business administration. Also during the ceremony, Ryan Clark of Newtown graduated with a bachelor of science degree in fire science.

Newtown and Sandy Hook students earned a spot on Lauralton Hall’s second quarter honor roll. Students named to the honor roll at the Milford school were Rhea Schneider of Newtown and Kelly Ann McCarthy of Sandy Hook, who earned high honors, and Mary Siroky of Newtown and Christina Gould, Alexandra Hamar, Amanda Watson, and Sarah Wilkie of Sandy Hook, who earned honors.

Jaimee Theresa Rocca earned a place on the Dean’s List at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

Katherine Condon of Sandy Hook was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester at Elms College in Chicopee, Mass. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the semester and complete at least 12 credits.

Berklee College of Music, Boston, announced that Newtown residents Zachary Gordon and Theodore Hartlett earned placement on the Dean’s List for the fall semester of the 2011 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.

The following local residents were named to the Dean’s List at Ithaca (N.Y.) College, for the fall 2011 semester: from Newtown, Alyssa Rodriguez, a sophomore music composition major; Cristin Carlin, a junior anthropology major; and Katelyn Power, a senior outdoor adventure leadership major; and Kaitlyn Connolly of Sandy Hook, a freshman television-radio major.

The following local students have been named to the Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester: from Newtown, Brianna Carey, psychology special education major; Elizabeth O’Brien, psychology special education; Kelley Sullivan, communications/public relations; and Jillian Thompson, fashion merchandising. From Sandy Hook, Jenna Bonaccorso, psychology special education; Daniel Rahmlow, business administration major with an emphasis on marketing; Jennifer Smith, psychology special education; and Danielle Villa, history.

The following local residents were named on the Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute Dean’s List for academic excellence during the fall 2011 semester: Adam Morehouse of Newtown, a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering; Benjamin Morehouse of Newtown, a senior majoring in biochemistry; and Robert Morlath of Sandy Hook, a senior majoring in aerospace engineering. To earn a place on the Dean’s List at the college, students must complete work at “A” level in courses and projects, according to the college.

Spencer Scott of Newtown, who is at Bose Corporation as part of a co-op program offered at Northeastern University in Boston, earned a place on the university’s Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester. Spencer is in his third of five years at Northeastern’s business school, and is majoring in finance and marketing. He also completed a co-op at Linenhouse in Melbourne, Australia, in the spring and traveled while there to the Great Barrier reef, New Zealand, Bali, and to the outback around Port Philip’s Bay.
