Rachel McGrath canned 28 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished off four assist as Colorgraphics pounded The Gym at Newtown, 76-59, in The Gym at Newtown Womenâs Basketball League.

Maura Keenan and Colleen Ruiz tossed in 20 points for âGraphics as Keenan pulled down 13 rebounds and Ruiz pulled down six. Denise Passano chipped in with six points and nine rebounds. For The Gym, Jen Thomas scored 25 points with three blocks as Christy Hardy added 14 points with four rebounds. Jaime Murphy chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds while Janet Duffy added eight markers.

Walsh Logging moved into first place thanks to a 46-39 win over Dr Gellert and a forfeit loss by Alpine Realty. For Walsh, Lisa Schang dropped in 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Joanne Duncanson added seven points and five rebounds. Doris Ratner and Tracy Paella chipped in six points apiece and combined for seven rebounds. Jen D. and Jen Z. chipped four points apiece and combined for 13 rebounds. For Dr Gellert, Jen Timpanelli canned 12 points while Holly Ferguson added 11 points and eight rebounds. Laura Cook chipped in eight points as Jody Rajcula and Stephanie Trolle combined for eight points, with Rajcula pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds.

In previous action, Tori Anderton poured in 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Alpine Realty to a 58-50 win over Walsh Logging. For Alpine, Kelly Fengler added 18 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked seven shots â¦ all of those in the second half. Bonnie Willie and Sherri Baggett combined for four points and six rebounds. For Walsh, Lisa Schang knocked down 15 points with 10 rebounds and a game-high five steals. Joanne Duncanson chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds as Tracy Paella dropped in 11 points and Jen Dayton added 10.

In the second game of the night Dr. Gellert defeated Colorgraphics 52-41.

Holly Ferguson popped in 23 points to lead Dr Gellert to a 52-41 win over Colorgraphics. Colleen Gregory added 11 points and six rebounds as Jen Timpanelli chipped in six points and had three key steals. Kim Lowell, Jody Rajcula, Stephanie Trolle and Laura Cook combined for 12 points. For âGraphics, Maura Keenan canned 23 points and ripped down a season-high 21 rebounds. Rachel McGrath added eight points and three steals as Colleen Ruiz, Peg Bowers and Alex Heron combined for 10 points.

Amy Proulx popped in 26 points and led Newtown Mobil to a thrilling 64-62 win over The Gym at Newtown. Kelly Pinckney had 14 points while Karen Katrinak chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds. Laurie Bain contributed eight points and three rebounds. For The Gym, Jen Thomas led the way with 22 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Jaime Murphy added 14 points as Janet Duffy chipped in eight points and seven rebounds. Christy Hardy added seven points, including a three-pointer. Mel Darrah grabbed nine rebounds.

How do you propose tapping the brakes, Dave? 8-30g already trumps any local regulations- you don't have a brake pedal to push. Brookfield, Trumbull and now Ridgefield have a clear case for a moratorium based on the development (thanks to 8-30g) that has already occurred. I don't see a clear case for Newtown to request a moratorium... yet.

Nobody is suggesting shutting the doors on new neighbors. What neighboring towns are doing, and what we should be doing too, is to tap the brakes on all of the multi-family residential development proposals so that we can spend 6 months updating our regulations such that if you want to build dense residential housing here, XX percent of it needs to be affordable (we will never make any headway on increasing our percentage of affordable housing otherwise, short of 8-30g), and the rest needs to be done in as low an impact manner as possible. Low impact on traffic, health & safety, the environment and on the cost of town services.

Ned, please familarize yourself with 8-30G, and then please share the unique flaws that may be helpful in formulating a denial An 8-30g project can be denied only on very narrow grounds – i.e., if it presents health, safety or other concerns that exceed a town’s need for affordable housing. According to the TOG website, “projects cannot be rejected for incompatibility with a Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD); density; traffic congestion; height; aesthetics; concerns of neighbors or the community; and failure to comply with local zoning regulations.” 8-30g proposals are rarely denied by planning and zoning officials because the burden of proof on appeal is on the town. Appeals are costly, but a municipality can be successful in a court case if it has sufficiently established that the concerns leading to denial are factual and substantive.
