NVCC Offers Real Estate
Relicensing Courses
WATERBURY â Every two years in Connecticut, all real estate brokers, salespeople, and appraisers must be relicensed, and 2006 is a relicensing year.
 As part of the process, real estate professionals are required to take 12 hours of continuing education and, beginning March 2, NVCC is offering courses that help them meet those requirements.
 The NVCC courses are offered in the morning, afternoon, and evening on both weekdays and Saturdays. There are also two all-day Saturday series on March 24 and May 20 that each fulfills the total 12-hour prerequisite. In all, there are 12 courses to choose from, including three new courses:
 âRadon,â a course taught by Woodbury resident Ken Accashian that uses a curriculum developed by the state Department of Health that not only explains why mitigating radon gas is important, but how to go about it;
âFederal Requirements Pertaining to Lead-Based Paint,â a course taught by Rick Reibstein, a visiting lecturer from Massachusetts, which reviews what real estate professionals should know about regulations surrounding lead-based paint; and,
âBasic Title Searching for the Real Estate Professional,â a course taught by attorney and Waterbury resident Pat Maloney that reviews the essential elements of title searching.
 Also offered again this semester is âProperty Management for Realtors and Managers,â taught by Mark Nolan of Nolan Enterprises in Danbury. A new course that was first offered last fall, it explains how to market and maintain residential income property, and offers tips on how to increase cash flow, as well as understanding legal and insurance issues.
