Eleanor M. (Killeen) Farrell, 89, of the Governorâs House, Simsbury, wife of the late Thomas J. Farrell, VI, died on February 15 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. She was born June 1, 1916, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., daughter of James and Eva (Miller) Killeen.
Mrs Farrell had lived in Sandy Hook prior to moving to Simsbury 15 years ago. She was a member of St Catherine of Siena Church and was a volunteer at the Cyrenius H. Booth and Simsbury Libraries.
She is survived by a son, Richard J. Farrell, Sr, and his wife, Susan, of West Simsbury; a daughter, Susan E. Farrell and her husband, George Shaheen, of Williamsburg, Mass.; four grandsons, Kenneth C. Farrell and his wife, Libbey, of North Granby, Thomas J. Farrell, VIII, and his wife, Julia, and daughter Shayla of North Carolina, Richard J. Farrell, Jr, and his wife, Jannelle, and their children, Adriana and Vanessa of Simsbury; and Nicholas Shaheen of Williamsburg, Mass.; four granddaughters, Peggy Frey and her husband, Mark, of Pennsylvania, Kathleen Ladd and her husband, David, and their children Harley, Dana, Brittany, Cassidy, and Olivia of Ohio, Kimberly Springford and her husband, Joseph, and their children Carolyn and Timothy of New Hampshire; two sisters, Catherine Lindenauer and Florence Killeen; and a very special daughter-in-law, Carol J. Farrell Frueh of North Carolina. A son, Thomas J. Farrell, VII, an infant daughter, Barbara Ruth Farrell, and a brother, James Killeen, predeceased Mrs Farrell.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 18, at 11 am, at St Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in Simsbury. Burial will be in St Rose Cemetery, Newtown, in the spring.
Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, has charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Simsbury Public Library, 725 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury CT 06070.
