Nighthawk Gymnasts Narrowly Edged Out For First Place In SWC Meet

The Newtown High School gymnastics team earned second place in the South-West Conference Championships, at New Milford High, on February 9. The host Green Wave won the title with a score of 133.500, edging out Newtown which posted a score of 132.050. The third place team was Brookfield with 123.250.

The Nighthawks were led by Brianna Schoffstall who placed third in the All Around with a score of 35.350. Only New Milford’s Regan Williams (36.350) and Haviland Brown (35.950) scored higher.

Schoffstall scored an 8.250 on vault, 9.150 on the bars, 8.950 on the balance beam, and 9.000 on the floor. Kelsey Brennan had an 8.750 on the vault, 8.000 on the balance beam, and 7.900 on floor. Camilla Collesian had an 8.100 on vault and 7.200 on bars. Sadie Boyajian scored an 8.100 on vault, 7.600 on bars, and 8.150 for her floor routine. Aliyah Reuther had an 8.300 on bars, 8.050 on the beam, and 9.050 on floor. Nicole Gutrie recorded a 7.500 on the balance beam.
