Soccer Club Banquet

The Newtown Soccer Club celebrated its past year at a banquet held January 21. In the photo above, sportsmanship awards were presented to one member of each travel team and the recipients were: front row, from left – Chris Meier (U11), Conor McManus (U10), Colleen Thornberg (U10), Matt Norris (U12); back row, from left – Louis Ritzinger (U13), Kristen Davis (U14), Elyssa Samsel (U13), and Jen Greenwood (U12). In the photo at right, the Al Taubert (left) Award was presented to Joanne Shpunt. The award is presented to a club colunteer who has dedicated many hours for the benefit of the soccer club and its participants. Mrs Shpunt has served as secretary of the club for eight years and has also co-chaired the Memorial Day soccer tournament on more than one occasion.
