James H. Bunting

James H. Bunting, 71, of Westport, husband of the late Michale (Mikki) Perrottelli Bunting, died February 3, in Mesa, Ariz.

He was the stepfather of David Farrell of Newtown.

Mr Bunting was born in Brockton, Mass., son of the late Harold and Gertrude (Macdonald) Bunting, and had resided in Brockton until 1976, prior to moving to Westport. He was a graduate of MIT and was employed by Lincoln Laboratory in the Boston area for many years. Prior to retiring, he was employed as an engineer at Farrand Controls in Valhalla, N.Y. He was also a longtime adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America, and a member, past commodore, and current educational officer for the Saugatuck River Power Squadron.

Mr Bunting was also predeceased by his first wife, Martha (Wollman) Bunting.

Survivors include four sons, William Bunting of Columbia, S.C., Robert Bunting of New London, John Bunting of Atlanta, and Charles Bunting of Meford, Mass.; one daughter, Mary Karr of Cedarburg, Wis.; one stepdaughter, Julie Farrell of Brookfield; another stepson, Michael Farrell of Summerfield, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services took place February 18, in the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East, Westport, with the Rev Paul Goodman officiating. Interment was private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James H. Bunting Memorial Fund, c/o the Saugatuck River Power Squadron, 56 Long Lots Road, Westport, CT 06880.

The Harding Funeral Home, Westport, was in charge of arrangements.
