Carl E. Powers

Carl E. Powers, 64, husband of Virginia (Stevens) Powers of Waterbury, a former longtime resident of Sandy Hook, died February 15, in Danbury Hospital.

He was the father of Steven C. Power of Newtown.

He was born in Baltimore, Md., January 23, 1936, son of the late Eugene and Anna (Peacher) Powers. He was a retired wireman for Unisys Corp of Waterbury, and a former employee of Branson Ultrasonics of Danbury.

During the Korean War he served in the US Navy.

Besides his wife and son, he is survived by two daughters, Arlene O’Dell of Bethel, and Claudia Alfredson of Kerry, N.H.; one stepson, Robert Brag of Waterbury; one sister, Addie Rice of Baltimore, Md.; and five grandsons.

Funeral services were held February 17 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, with the Rev Steven Gordon officiating.

Burial will take place in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, 5 to 9 pm.
